Kress brings her trio of stories, and this trilogy/triptych to a satisfactory conclusion.
She covered a lot in three short stories – showcasing the impact on a mother and her daughters of a worldwide shift to non-aggression, then a bigger picture looking at a community struggling to survive violence from those who hadn’t made the shift, and in this story we are introduced to the aliens who made it happen, and whether it has been a gift to humanity, or not…. In years to come I’ll probably think I read a novel about this, rather than three short stories!
