New York is under siege from a number of behemoth creatures not unlike gojira, and the army and air force are trying to deal with them, but with little success, assuming reducing the city to rubble isn’t counted as success.
Amongst this mayhem in Bernadette and her dog and cats. She is laid very low by a serious bout of flu and a lot of what is happening goes past unnoticed, but once back in the land of the living she, and some neighbours, finds out that in fact the creatures might in fact be altogether quite benign.
A nice enough story, engagingly written.
