Young Hester lives with her Aunt Mar, the latest in a long-line of seers in the Blake family. It all starts at Jamison Pond, and there are eldritch portents-aplenty, and a bit of research into the family archives suggests to Hester that a dark lord is a-coming for a bride.
She finds the girl who she believes to be the appointed on, and is befriended by her, but there is a twist in the tale. Well written story from Muir, capturing the teen character and her aunt well.
