A short two-pager, twelve paragraphs outlining a personal descent amongst a societal collapse.
A short story from the setting of Powell’s novel ‘The Recollection’.
With Kerouac and Kesey mentioned, and it being 1968, Powell gives more than enough for many readers over 50 to be going on with..
A follow-up to a story in the previous volume, and another short, tight drama leaving the reader wondering what happens next.
Quite reminiscent of a series of stories by Stephen Baxter a while, and a number of other stories that came out around the same time, as the SF community looked back in anger/sadness at where humanity’s exploration of space was going/no longer going.
An intriguing setting for a short story, and one that you could see being worth the investment of more time from the author.
A strong contribution from Powell and de Bodard.
Another strong collection from a mostly youthful group of authors, boding well for the future.
