Catherynne M. Valente. Silently and Very Fast. (The Year’s Best Science Fiction 29th Annual Collection).
Brilliant! A shoo-in for a Decade’s Best SF Collection, and a story that beautifully takes the genre another step forward.

Neat post-modern reflection on Mars(es) past(s) and present(s) and other(s). Don’t let me spoil it – have a read of it!
A lot of thought has gone into the detail, which gives a sense of place and time with almost effortless ease (the effort has gone in at the writing stage, leaving it much easier for the reader). It’s a read that oozes class.
