Sadie Bruce. Little Girls in Bone Museums. (Fantasy and Science Fiction, Mar/Apr 2015)

fsf150304A rather unsettling story!

Imagine the old Chinese custom of foot binding, taken to the nth degree. You probably won’t go as extreme as Sadie Bruce went for this story, which features the story of a young woman who undergoes bone distortion to such an extent that her life is in effect that of a statue, waited and doted on by a rich sugar daddy.

Long since dead and a museum piece, rather than acting as a salutary lesson to a young girl visiting the museum, the distorted skeleton acts as an ambition to be reached. Scary…. (is that Sadie pronounced Sado?)
