Nebula Awards 20. (ed George Zebrowski, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1985).

So, my collection of Nebula anthologies is completed in mid-August 2011 (ignore the date of this entry, as reviews are dated so that they appear chronologically when searched/browsed on Best SF). This large-format hardback came across the Atlantic on a leisurely journey, having started life in San Marcos Public Library in Texas but with little evidence of having been read. Whilst recent volumes in this series have been to varying degrees heavy on the commentary and analysis, at the expense of the fiction, the volume in hand is chock-full of high quality fiction, namely :

  • Octavia E. Butler. Bloodchild.
  • Lucius Shepard. The Man Who Painted the Dragon Griaule.
  • John Varley. Press Enter[].
  • William Gibson. New Rose Hotel.
  • Frederik Pohl. The Greening of Bed-Stuy.
  • Kim Stanley Robinson. The Lucky Strike.
  • Gardner Dozois. The Morning Child.
  • George Alec Effinger. The Aliens Who Knew, I Mean, Everything.
  • Gene Wolfe. A Cabin on the Coast.
  • Michael Bishop. Dogs’ Lives.
  • George Zebrowski. The Eichmann Variations.
