If you don’t have the time or inclination to read Audrey Niffenegger’s ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’, then this five stanza short is the one for you.
As the title indicates the story features a father hearing from his daughter from the future, through his sleeping toddler. These visitations enable him to reflect a little on the present, but his daughter will not divulge what is to happen in the future. There is a surprise ending, and the reason for the adult child getting in touch is finally revealed, although it is an altruistic one from her, not a selfish one.
