The second story in the now-digital Eclipse series. Online here, and with a lovely little into illustration from Kathleen Jennings, albeit her portrayal of the nocturnal bibliotheque fenestrating thief doesn’t tie in with my mental picture of the protagonist/storyteller.
The story is told in a dry, deadpan manner by a failed wizard, who doesn’t quite have what it takes to enter The Studium as a student adept. However, rather than being left high and dry he is able to turn expertise in one area of the dark arts to his advantage. However, there is a price to pay (but not one that he has to pay, and therein lies the conundrum).
