David J. Schwartz. Bear in a Contradicting Landscape. (Apex Magazine #33 February 2012)

An unsettling piece of meta-fiction, sort of in the David Lynch mould.

A chance meeting on a subway train is not unusual, but when the person introducing himself to the narrator, an author, is in fact one of his fictional creations, that is unusual. As the story progresses, the extent to which the author’s creations are subject to his creative imaginations is explored, and his tattooed partner has serious reservations about her role in his life. And it gets weirder. A great read. And onlie on the Apex Magazine website.
