Charlie Anders. Suicide Drive. (Year’s Best Science Fiction & Fantasy 2009)

An interesting look at the impact on individuals of big events, and the public persona/family life of key individuals. Humanity has reached for the stars as our life on Earth becomes increasingly threatened, and the son of the key person involved in that last gasp attempt to find life elsewhere is left with the memories of that person as his father, whilst the public perception is entirely different.
